Follow My Journey

Hi! I’m raising a lamb this year and I’m so excited to take care of it all summer long and bring it to the fair! I’m learning how to feed it, keep it clean, and train it to walk just right. I work really hard every day and even get up early to make sure my lamb is happy and healthy. I love animals and want to do my best to take care of this one. I’ll be sharing all the cool stuff I learn and do, so come check out my blog to see how my lamb grows and gets ready for the fair and auction. I hope you like following along—it’s gonna be awesome!

  • Delivering Buyer Letters

Wish Me Luck Delivering Buyer Letters Today I delivered my buyer letters to Orcutt Burger and some other really cool businesses! I was kind of nervous because I had to go inside and talk to people I didn’t know. It was a little scary, but I pulled through and did it anyway! The only hard…

  • Writing Buyer Letters

Writing Buyer Letters Last week I wrote my buyer letters to local businesses! It was really fun because I got to tell them all about me and my lamb. Her name is Bella and she’s a Hampshire ewe. This is my very first year raising a lamb for the fair, and I’m really proud of…

  • Petersen Lambs Invitational & Fair Setup

Hi Asa again a few days ago I showed Bella at the Petersen Club Lambs Invitational. I was a little scared leaving Bella and Jolly alone, but I was okay. Inside of the ring, it was intimidating for me because there were a bunch of older kids, but I pulled through and got 2nd place…

  • Putting in the Work

Putting in the Work One Step at a Time! Hi, it’s Asa again! Every day now, Bella and I have been practicing walking together. It might not sound like a big deal, but walking is super important for helping her build muscle and stay lean so she’s strong and show-ready by fair time! We’re still…

  • Leg Days are always FUN!

Hey everyone, it’s Asa! One of the things I do to get Bella ready for the show is wash her legs every three days. I know that sounds kind of funny, but it’s actually really important! When I wash her legs, it keeps the wool fluffy and clean so she looks extra nice in the…

  • Bella is Home!

Hi! It’s Asa again. I wanted to tell you all about the day we brought Bella home! She’s my first 4-H market lamb and she rode in the back of our truck with a bunch of fresh hay just for her. She was super calm and ate the whole ride home—she loves hay! Once we…

  • Building a Sheep Pen

Hi! It’s me, Asa. When I found out I was finally old enough to raise a market lamb for 4-H, the first thing I had to do was build her a pen! My mom and dad helped me cut down big sheep panels to the size we needed, and then we hammered in 11 T-posts…
